Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When her father passed away as a Carnival barker at the age of an infant and she was forced to keep the family going by working as a maid and server. Ruth was raised in a poor area of Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in the school. However, she left school in the span of two years in order to pursue an acting career. Her path wasn't without its challenges. While in New York, her first job involved posing stills for crime magazines, the theatre work that she wanted eluded. The following job she got was a "hat check" woman at a nightclub until she decided to quit and returned to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as an actor who was steady. Earned money performing during the daytime working as an Usherette. She has also completed her studies at Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she studied drama.
